Mission
Pedal Needs You Now More Than Ever
MISSION
Pedal Hilton Head has two missions, the first is to be a marquee cycling event in our Gold Level Bicycle Friendly Community. The second, and most important mission is to fund programs and scholarships at the Boys & Girls Club of Hilton Head Island for those kids who need us the most. Parents and caregivers can rely on the Club to provide childcare, unique learning and recreation opportunities and a healthy source of food for their children. All of which would not be available without generous donors like you. The Club also provides part and full-time employment for over 20 members of the Hilton Head community plus draws from the incredible volunteers that make the Island who we are!
In 2021, 70% of Beaufort County kids did not finish school at grade level. To help address this shortfall, The Club has formed a community partnership with the Beaufort County School district. “Club Saturday” offers academic and recreational enrichment programs to address and alleviate the learning gaps.
The Club is a cornerstone of daily life for the children and teens that it serves daily. Many of them are from low-income families: 63% of Club Members (children) are from families living in poverty, 71% do not have health insurance, 54% live in single parent households and many do not have a home to call their own.
Pedal Hilton Head’s fundraising goal has never had higher stakes, as the world reels with uncertainty, it is more important than ever to provide stability for our members. While we never know what the future holds, donors to the Boys and Girls Club of Hilton Head can be assured that positive impact of their contributions are felt across Hilton Head daily. The Boys and Girls Club provides exceptional after-school, summer education, recreation, and other enrichment programs. Participants in the Club are given the tools to become better students and active community members.
Your 2023 registration and contributions support our programs which focus on academic success, healthy lifestyle and being good, productive, caring citizens. The Club works with staff, the board and community volunteers to continually improve programming and our facilities to meet the changing and growing needs of the children of Hilton Head.
